Pour Les Mères

Pour Les Mères means 'For Mothers' and I found that title to be fitting because I speak French as one of my 3 languages learned and it goes hand in hand with what you are about to see. It also seems very fitting to have Mother's Day in March 'The International Month of Women' doesn't it? That only applies to the UK and maybe some other places, as other countries celebrate it at different times of the year but it still makes appropriate sense.

I have been fortunate enough to have had many sales from my beloved Custom Poetry Greeting Cards for Mother's Day. I made many mother's happy with the inspiration of their children (my customers) and personal (strictly confidential) information that only they would know and appreciate. It was an honour. Here are a few of the cards that I made:

For this one I reached out to someone who I knew just had his first child with his wife and with my suggestion he said "You're a godsend." Warmed my heart that did, third time I've heard it but it'll never get old and I love to help people. This card turned into more of a booklet as it is 10 pages long, with many pictures, a long and very personal poem to why I will not upload any images of the inside. It's actually the third card I have made that is 10 pages long, awkward to make so needless to say that it is not cheap. I really wanted to make a card for a new mother as I can only imagine how amazing, new and overwhelming that entering motherhood must feel. I haven't seen a Mother's Day card catered to a new mother before ('New Born' cards do not count) so I was happy to take on that task. I was told that his wife was "speechless" when she read it. Mission complete!

The fact that this card and the one before are both purple is purely coincidental as both customers told me that their recipients favourite colour is purple. Also, both customers wanted a personal photo on the cover so I obliged. I really like this one because it is simple yet elegant. The look that I was going for was a 'Swarovski picture frame' since my customer's mum is a lover of the jewellery brand. I attempted that the best way that I could. The Swarovski Swan alone took hours upon end, this is because not only did I hand place each individual crystal, which were a specific mix of shades according to the logo itself by the way, but I had to do it twice! Really. My attempt came off better the second time so I'm not complaining. 

I was told that his mother "loved it" and that his siblings were "a little jealous" so again that left me feeling good. Great infact, knowing that I made another mother and customer happy by giving them what they both wanted if not more. It was a fun project to take on.

Now I put my heart and soul into everything that I commit myself to whether my product is for a stranger or someone close to me but in saying that, naturally I went the extra mile for my mum. Each card took 16-20 hours to make (no joke) but making Mum's card came with alot of sacrifice as I was running out of time and was exhausted from making all the other cards beforehand. At the end of the day, I gave it to her in time, the words were meaningful, sincere and emotional enough to make her tear-up furthermore, it came with an over-the-top beautiful design that she kept asking for as my cards having been getting better and better with each one since I started this business. I.e. Better than the first card I made for her which coincidentally was for Mother's Day last year. Although appreciative of the first card, she became jealous of my later creations made for other people is what I'm saying.

For those extremely observant readers/fans of mine, you may notice that I have used a similar gold (clothing) design in the past and you are right I have. That was for my infamous 'Salsa card' that I made last year, everyone loved that one but Mum really loved it and repeatedly asked for something similar if not the same thing and this 'Mother, Daughter' card is the result of what she asked for and more. There's a private joke to it also that only she and I will understand. I am very proud of this one myself, I've had this idea in my head for the longest time and it finally came to life. Mum absolutely loved it which meant a lot to me. Everyone's happy, I'm happy, this is a 'happy' time and I don't get to say that often so I'm going to live in the moment.

Like I said on Facebook and Twitter #BigUpMums whom are loving, caring, encouraging, educating, sacrificing and just wonderful with their children. Including women who are maternal and loving to those who are not from their own blood.

Mother's, March, Easter & Cards

How is it that Easter can be advertised before Mother’s Day? And not even for religious purposes but just for the tooth decaying purpose of selling increasingly expensive Easter Eggs, I ask you and I ask myself? Not that I’m complaining about all the chocolate, I know the damage that comes with eating excessive amounts but I LOVE’S ME some chocolate as seen on my food blog and in my cupboard.

I've just sent out my 2nd newsletter for my blog and speaking of Mother’s Day which is on Sunday 15^th March in the UK for those that aren’t sure, I have a couple of Mother’s Day custom card orders under my belt as a result of my remarkable, if I do say so myself, Valentine’s cards that I made this month. I really wanted to step up my game as I feel that I missed out last year. The interests that lead to these sales were from both my recent custom orders as well as my new pre-made cards that are selling online. After posting pictures of them on my Facebook page, I literally got 2448 views from that post in just 1 hour!!!!! Then 3175 a few hours later!!! Seriously. That was a much needed esteem boost let me tell you. By the next day it reached 3225 views!! I must be doing something right then.

Not all of them are just made for that particular day by the way, some of them are worded for love/like and adult themes on any occasion. Any day is a good day to say how you feel for someone.

I wrote a pleasurable piece of suggestions on Deevah’s Cravings to advise the best ways to enjoy Valentine’s. Received great feedback from the few that took my advice and nice responses on Twitter so all my efforts paid off. Other than cards, I am forever preparing my crowdfund and currently doing revisions on my debut poetry book. The first draft looks great but it is incomplete and needs tweaking. This hardback copy itself is super sweet to look at I must say, it is in supreme quality better than I expected and  I am looking extremely forward to the final draft. I’m going hard trus’ me! Newsletters and all!

Love, Love

I do love, Love and it goes without saying if you read any one of my Valentine's cards or any other card or poem of mine that expresses passion. I am not the most conventional or sentimental young woman however, I value the beauty and pricelessness of genuine feelings of happiness in romance between two people. It is also a great escapism from all the other crap out there in life that drags us down, has us stressed out, angry at one another or just filled with hate. No, I want the good stuff.

That's why my cards and Valentine's Day is important to me. Let's celebrate love. We deal with hatred everyday, some more than others, lets just enjoy love for a while then get back 'to normal.' I feel a poem coming on there in that sentence alone lol (for my performances or book that is).

This sexy card that gets to the point about avoiding 'mushy stuff' and getting straight to 'da business.' It's very appropriate for a mature audience and reminds me a lot of a blog that was recently written for Word of Infiniti (Infiniti Promotions blog & eZine) called 'Occasion sex.' These cards took a lot out of me these past couple weeks but it was well worth-it as I have grown as a designer, gained patience I never knew I had, produced good products, increased my portfolio of work and have become better with Photoshop and scissors! It's all good.

Valentine Exclusives

I have been working my arse off on Valentine's Cards these past couple weeks, which is to be expected but it's not even the orders that have me losing sleep but my ideas. I swear my mind has been possessed with an amazing adrenaline boost of creativity. I have all these ideas that I want to put out and have been developing them just because. Many of these ideas would be appreciated by, but have not been asked of me by customers, so some of my ideas don't get met unless I make that to have on hand. In saying this, I made some brilliant cards perfect for Valentine's Day, as well as for your secret crush or significant other on any other day of the year. These cards are available for sale NOW sold exclusively on Infiniti Promotions website. They are limited and literally exclusive which means that there is likely to be only one of each available.

I LOVE this 'My Queen' aka Queen of Hearts card I made last night and it wasn't even my favourite to begin with. I thought it looked a little generic and boring even though it took me hours upon end to edit the face of the Queen image to make it unique. The poem was the selling point, until I finished the accompanying hand design. Now the design and poems both sell the card and balance each other out perfectly. Any woman, especially one in such a relationship from a loving man, would be honoured to receive such a card. I'm telling you. I can make that custom for you too of course.

Now this 'You Give Me Butterflies' card was also a one that I wasn't loving at first. I was freestyling as I was making it and was unusually willing to settle for a plain but alternative design. Again, I was getting disheartened that the poem was the only good part but that was until I thought of a new idea to replace my original design and it all came from a mistake. Et Voila! Much better and effective than what I originally had in mind. Both cards took forever (most cards of mine take 9-12 hours to complete from scratch to completion) and all was worth-it. The poem to this one is unmistakingly about admitting your feelings to the person that you're dying to be with, the one who makes you nervous but you have held back for a long time. We've all been there at some point.

Similar to what I thought when I completed this adorable, nicely sized card, is what many other people have told me "I can see this in Clintons or somewhere like that." A compliment yes but when I thought that to myself it left me unsatisfied with the fear that it may look too, dare I say it "average." I like for my cards to stand out. The words no doubt do. It's perfect for someone that is in the first few months to a year of their relationship, fresh new love celebrating their first Valentine's with their partner and realise just how deep their feelings have grown. I've been fortunate enough to have old boyfriends express such strong feelings for me, not as eloquently as I put it in this card lol, but impressionable nonetheless. Good times.

One of the best things about these cards for sale is that they are CHEAPER than my custom service. Not cheap as price are £9.99-14.99 INCLUSIVE of postage and packing. What you are paying for is a luxury one of kind product with beautiful, sexy (in some cases), strong, engaging poems and handmade designs. Lastly, I've recently been turned onto Soundcloud where I will soon open an account and upload audio of my recent poems including one's from my cards, looking forward to that. After Valentine's weekend there's going to be less daily card making from me as I have overdone it and my schedule will be dominated with the official launch of my book. I will of course still be accepting orders at anytime so don't be afraid to place one (Mother's Day hint hint), I'm just going to shift gears a bit. Newest Creations

I spent all night making these. Literally until sunrise which is not that uncommon for me but I do not like to make a habit of it as I know it's unhealthy and I want to SLEEP now but my customers will be happy. I too will go to sleep happy knowing that I got it done and out of my mind for when I do get some shut-eye.

By the way when I say it took me all night, this was to hand-make THREE cards. None of that included the time it took to come up with the full design itself, print or write the poems, but I am so glad that all has been accomplished.

It think that this one is my favourite because the poem itself is a marriage proposal, how romantic...

Issued Out

Nearly two weeks ago I issued my first newsletter to promote my blog, products and writing projects. It's another expense but like I said I've been on my self-promotion game and as a business woman I am fully aware of the power and necessity behind marketing. Every brick counts to make a house, in my case it's a mansion. I always think big.

The response so far has been wonderful "Thank-you" to everyone who reached out to me in reply and support of my efforts. You have no idea how encouraging it is. There's plenty more to come from me, plenty more for me to share with you, entertain you with and engage you with. It's all good.

As stated in my newsletter prices for my extraordinary custom poetry greeting cards will increase from 1st Feb and they have since done so. They are not just cards, they are personalised poems accompanied by fantastic custom (usually handmade) designs. Plenty time, effort and passion goes into making these cards so they are more than worth the purchase believe me. I am currently working on my Valentine's orders and collection for general sale (non-custom but exclusive) right now. I am also looking for an ideal Valentine's event to perform at too so if you know of anything let me know!

It's a great time, many things are happening and I am just excited.
