To a Happy Graduate

A few weeks ago my friend asked me to make a card for his friend's graduation and to include messages from her family. I was happy to do so, especially since my friend wanted the design to match one of the handmade graduation cards that I made for sale a couple months ago. I don't ever make the same card twice but I was delighted to remix that design seeing as it was a random idea that I came to love and was dying to sell. The beauty of my original Custom Poetry Greeting Card service is that it is just that, custom. So I will do something similar if requested but my aim is to keep it personal so that all my customers feels and know that they have a 'one of a kind' gift made from me, purchased with kindness by whomever gives it to them. Thus, I made a few alterations while still giving him what he wanted.

My favourite part of this card is the inside. I'm an advocate for education, graduating and praising others for their achievements so I take my poetry for these topics more seriously than some. Also, I was determined to make the contributing messages look authentic, as it would if they were handwritten and from the feedback that I received, my desires were met. I know that the emotional impact that this card had on the recipient was a group effort, the loving words from her supportive loved ones, the overall design and encouraging words in my poem and the idea of the friend we have in common to purchase it for her really makes this card more touching. Like my mother said to me "these are not just cards, they're gifts." I heard tears were involved so I did my job.

Mazel Tov!

I'm really proud of this one...

I made a Wedding card on behalf of a customer congratulating a newlywed Jewish couple. I love to cater to different cultures, learn and experiment. It was a fun challenge and I welcome more.

At first glance the looks for the 'ceremony' side of this card can be deceiving. It may look like the groom's head is missing, when in actual fact his head is there he just happens to be leaning forward to try and break the glass on the floor. Coincidentally enough, the wrapped glass and the groom's kippah are both camouflaged with the background so I fully understand if you were mistaken but if you look closer you'll see it.

This is one of the most difficult cards I ever made. Not due to the request but due to my creative idea- as always. ALL of this card is handmade so needless to say that it took forever to complete, hence why it is more expensive than my other cards. At a total cost of £25, I delivered a completely handmade, personally designed, passionately written with the clients in mind, one of a kind poem folded in a triple sided glamorous greeting card. Original and 100% custom!

Inspiring Interview

2Inspire Ltd is an organisation that promotes women in business and they have recently started a youth academy to promote and encourage talent among young people. You may recognise the name from a previous entry on my blog for when I went to perform at a networking event of theirs a couple of months ago. They recently asked me to do an interview with them to feature on their blog. I was cautious to begin with, not that I am a stranger to interviews or enquiring minds about what I do but I was worried about the depth of my answers, particularly because it was going to be in print form. I am glad I did it, it was a pleasure and I even inspired myself which was much needed at this point in time. Nonetheless, any reader can tell that I am passionate and hardworking with what I do. Let me know what you think.

There are questions regarding what a typical business day for me is like, how I feel about inspiring and empowering young women, how I started my business and advice I have for others. There are also some very blunt and honest answers that would not surprise my peers or colleagues in the slightest. You may also be shocked to see names like Hugh Hefner, Spike Lee, Donald Trump, Jennifer Saunders and Maya Angelou in the same sentence but it'll make sense once you read it. Read, enjoy and feel free to comment.
